| About DNA Diagnostics, Inc. | ||
| DNA Diagnostics, Inc. is a consulting firm specializing in the use of DNA technology in forensic science and paternity testing. DNA Diagnostics, Inc. provides reliable paternity testing results at a reasonable price, as well as a scientific analysis of DNA test results in criminal and paternity cases where such tests (e.g., RFLP typing and PCR-based typing assays) have been performed for individual identification and parentage verification. DNA Diagnostics, Inc. also offers training / workshops in the ABCs of DNA, the use of forensic DNA technology in the legal community, courtroom strategies, and effective presentation of DNA evidence at trial. | ||
| DNA Diagnostics, Inc. was founded in 1993 by Dr. J. Thomas McClintock. Working closely with Federal and State agencies as well as private law firms throughout the United States, Dr. McClintock has evaluated numerous criminal and paternity cases where DNA analysis was involved. Dr. McClintock served on the faculty for the pilot DNA training program sponsored by the DNA Legal Assistance Unit of the American Prosecutors Research Institute. This multi-disciplinary training program entitled DNA 101-Unraveling the Mystery was designed to train prosecutors, investigators, and law enforcement officials crime scene preservation, analysis and evidence collection, DNA evidence handling and chain of custody issues, specialized trial tactics, and effective presentation of DNA evidence to judges and juries. Dr. McClintock provided a basic understanding of the science of DNA, as well as a thorough background of the molecular techniques used when evidentiary and known samples are subjected to DNA analyses. | ||
| Dr. McClintock received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Department of Biology at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA, a Masters of Science degree from the Department of Entomology and a Doctorate of Philosophy degree from the Department of Microbiology at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. After completing a Postdoctoral Fellowship that focused on the molecular biology of host-pathogen interactions, Dr. McClintock became Group Leader/Senior Staff Scientist at Digene Diagnostics, Inc. where he directed the research on the development and use of nonradioactive DNA probes for the detection and diagnosis of specific human pathogens in clinical samples by in situ hybridization. In 1994, Dr. McClintock was nominated and selected to the U.S. House of Representatives of the 103rd and 104th Congress to serve as a Science Advisor and provide the scientific analysis and policy development on various scientific-related issues. Dr. McClintock is currently the Director of the Hazard Assessment Coordination and Policy Division in the Office of Science Coordination and Policy at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He is a faculty member in the Department of Molecular and Microbiology at George Mason University ( Fairfax, VA ) where he teaches a graduate level methods and applications course in DNA profiling, a seminar in forensic science, and an undergraduate course in microbiology. He also teaches an integrated lecture and laboratory Workshop at EXON-INTRON, Inc. (York, PA) designed to provide the individual a basic understanding of the principles and methodologies used in RFLP (restriction fragment length polymorphisms) analysis and PCR (polymerase chain reaction)-based typing (e.g., HLA DQA1/PM, D1S80, STR, and gender (amelogenin) identification). In addition, Dr. McClintock has offered Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses (offered by several State/County BAR Association Programs) on the use of DNA technology in the legal community. He has published and spoken extensively in the use of DNA technology in forensic science and in the areas of molecular biology, clinical and diagnostic virology, and in regulatory science focusing specifically on the oversight and release of genetically-engineered organisms. | ||
